For the first time in New Zealand, Kiwis can simply check any home to see if it is warm, safe and dry, thanks to the launch of the new project, called HomeFit.

HomeFit empowers Kiwis to find out the health of a home in two ways.

Firstly, there’s a free online check which all Kiwis can use to examine their own home, or a home they’re looking to buy, sell or rent. The online check is available at homefit.org.nz and contains around 20 questions before providing a tailored report on the home, detailing how warm, safe, efficient and dry it is. And, if it isn’t, how to improve it.

Secondly, there’s an independent appraisal, carried out by a trained assessor. The assessment looks at damp, mould, insulation, heating, ventilation and other key areas and, if a home passes, it will be awarded a HomeFit stamp, showing that it is warm, dry, safe and efficient.

HomeFit is being launched by the New Zealand Green Building Council. It is hoping thousands of keen house-hunters make use of the online check during open homes, and that sellers and landlords use HomeFit to make their homes healthier, and prove it with a HomeFit stamp.

Apprentice of the Year Update - Matt Morison competed in the National finals up in Auckland late last week as one of the ten regional finalists. The practical challenge project was a garden station that was donated to a local school upon completion. Matt completed this on time and to a great standard. Unfortunately, despite his best efforts and with some tough competition, Matt didn't manage to make it up on stage as one of the top three finalists. However, we all had a great time at the Awards Evening and celebrated until the early morning hours in a downtown bar! All the team at Waipukurau Construction is really proud of Matt and reckon he has a great future in the building industry.🤗🔨🤗🔨 🤗 Matt will be enjoying an Outward Bound course in mid-2019 as a reward for his efforts. ... Well done Matt and the Team at Waipukurau Construction, great to see you guys chasing excellence

Congratulations!!

Well done Matt great effort .

Our social club had a great day 80 metres underground on Saturday. The team at Waitomo Adventures guided us through 7 hours of an experience that we reckon is a must do for all New Zealanders. Highlights include a 100 metre abseil to get down into the cave, numerous large spiders, battling an underground waterfall, dropping through a black hole into the water below, fossilised whale bones and oyster shells and of course glowworms! There were some pretty tight spaces along the way and it was pretty physical, but we all managed to survive. After a BBQ dinner we soaked up a few well-deserved drinks and thrashed the pool table at the local watering hole. ... See MoreSee Less
